Business Owner. After receiving her degree from UCLA, Mary became a Coast Guard-certified Captain and commercial abalone diver.  She is an outdoor recreation business owner and naturalist guide on Catalina Island, CA.  Her company Descanso Beach Ocean Sports promotes marine ecology via snorkeling and kayak tours.  Mary’s work with children includes teaching music as a volunteer at Avalon School, serving as a youth leader in Girl Scouts and as an active board member of the local Saddle Club.  These activities satisfy her urgent need to get children outdoors.  Mary is the current Treasurer for Nature In The Classroom.
