William Wordsworth writes, “Let Nature be your teacher.” This theme pervades the thought of early naturalists to modern environmentalists: Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau; John Muir and Aldo Leopold; Edward Abbey and Rachel Carson advocate that we open our hearts and minds to the natural world.

he says, “In a 45-year teaching career, I have worked with students and teachers in diverse schools in Colorado, California, and seven foreign countries. Over the many years I founded my teaching practice on a handful of core beliefs such as let nature be our teacher. To that end, I incorporated nature in our classrooms, and at every turn, I took students into our natural world. By my own estimate, I have spent some 40,000 hours teaching science, and I have taught between 5000-6000 students.”
