Nature In The Classroom is a 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to enhance academic achievement, social-emotional learning and nurture a connection to the natural environment by installing tree canopy ceiling murals in educational settings.

Science Based

Attention Restoration Theory and 50 years of empirical research show that nature views out classroom windows and viewing images of trees boosts academic achievement, creativity, problem solving, focus, attention, engagement, and language skills in students. Our two-year pilot study found that students come into the classroom and settle down quicker, giving teachers more time on task. Students say the trees make them happy and are the reason they like coming to school. The tree canopies have also sparked curiosity about environmental stewardship.

The National Association for Interpretation S&P Podcast interviews Ernesto Rodriguez about the science and benefits of bringing the outdoors indoors.
